The Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (CDCP) has found that nearly 17% of all children experience some form of developmental or behavioural disability. The ability to recognize a problem at the very early stages of development is key to initiating appropriate specialised intervention, thereby enabling the child to reach their full potential.
Inspire is currently providing a training course (2 x 3 hours) for child carers in order to increase their awareness in identifying any possible ‘red flags’ in a child’s development should there be a concern with the way a child plays, learns, communicates or behaves. In addition, the importance of following specific guidelines are addressed to ensure that staff are aware of the procedures that need to be followed when tackling such a delicate issue with the parents in a professional and sensitive manner.
The training includes:
– Typical Development and the Awareness of Red Flags
– Understanding Challenging Behaviour (or behaviour that challenges us!)
– Infant and Toddler Sensory Actions, Control Skills and Exploratory Actions
– Why are you here? Yes, it’s all about you! (The importance of the role of the child carer)
Tailored made training sessions are also available on request.
This is a 2-day workshop held on Friday 24th of April and Friday 8th of May 14:00 – 17:00.
