Join in the experience of Heritage Malta’s commemoration of the 450th anniversary of the Great Siege of 1565 which will follow the momentous episodes of this remarkable historical period. Relive the dramatic excitement of war as the colossal Ottoman force clashed with the formidable Order of St John in Malta.

Discover some of the objects that have survived the turbulent period of the Great Siege of 1565. Follow the documentation which reveal the issues that eventually led to the colossal confrontation between the Order of St John and the Ottoman Empire in Malta. Identify the portraits of the main personages who were involved in these dramatic moments. Observe the tell-tale marks of war on the various pieces of armour and spot which weapons were used for combat by the knights or by the Ottomans.

Discover curious facts and legends which were born during this clamorous time and explore the interesting artefacts which will be displayed in ‘1565 – The Great Siege of Malta’ between September 4 and December 6, 2015 at the Palace State Rooms of the Grand Master’s Palace in Valletta.

Tickets: Adults €15; Seniors/ Students €10; Children (12-15 years) €5; Children (11 years and under) – Free. Sunday Family Ticket €20 (Admits 2 Adults and up to 3 children).  HM Members Free.


Opening Times: Monday to Friday (closed every Thursday) 10.00 – 16.30hrs (last admission at 16.00hrs). Saturday and Sunday 09.00 – 16.30hrs (last admission at 16.00hrs).
