You shall be pleased to know that the Ministry for Tourism and the Malta Tourism Authority shall be holding the 22nd edition of the Malta International Choir Festival between October 29 and November 1, 2015.
Below is the programme schedule spread across the four days.
One of the highlights of the festival are two performances that shall be held by the internationally acclaimed National Youth Chamber Choir of Great Britain, on Saturday, October 31. Both performances shall be held at the Temi Zammit Auditorium at the University of Malta, Msida. The first show starts at 6pm and the second at 8 pm.
Programme
THURSDAY October 29
18.45 hrs Choristers’ Street Parade
Venue: Republic Street, Valletta et al
Choristers start walk from De Vallette Square into Republic Street to
reach St John’s Co-Cathedral. The parade will be accompanied by a
local traditional festa musical band to create a lively festa
atmosphere along the way.
20.00 hrs Opening Ceremony – SINGING & PRAYING FOR PEACE
Venue: St John’s Co-Cathedral
Leaders of different religious denominations unite with the
harmonious singing of the 26 international choirs to pray together
for peace.
FRIDAY OCTOBER 30
12.00 – 14.00 hrs Singing in the City
Venues: a) Pjazza Jean de Valette, b) Upper Barrakka Garden &
c) Renzo Piano Stairs (City Entrance)
Three choirs shall be performing for some 20 minutes at each venue.
Exact schedule with names of singing choirs will be made available
closer to the date.
14.00 – 16.00 hrs SACRED MUSIC COMPETITION
Venue: St Publius Church, Foriana
Choirs will be competing for the festival trophies by
performing a 15 minute programme of sacred music.
16.00 – 21.00 hrs SECULAR MUSIC COMPETITION
Venue: Catholic Institute, Floriana
Various international choirs will be competing in various categories,
to win the best category and so qualify for the Grand Prix contest.
SATURDAY October 31
09.00 – 12.45 hrs SACRED MUSIC COMPETITION
Venue: St Publius Church, Foriana
Choirs will be competing for the festival trophies by
performing a 15 minute programme of sacred music.
9.00 – 13.00 hrs SECULAR MUSIC COMPETITION
Venue: Catholic Institute, Floriana
Various international choirs will be competing in various categories,
to win the best category and so qualify for the Grand Prix contest.
12.00 – 14.00 hrs Singing in the City
Venues: a) Pjazza Jean de Valette, b) Upper Barrakka Garden &
c) Renzo Piano Stairs (City Entrance)
Various guest choirs that will be participating in the festival will each
give a 20 minute performance in one of the venues above. Exact
schedule of names of singing choirs will be made available closer to
the date.
18.00 hrs & 20.00 hrs CHOIR FESTIVAL GRAND CONCERT
Venue: Sir Temi Zammit Hall, University of Malta, Msida.
The National Youth Chamber Choir of Great Britain
Will be performing in an uninterrupted one hour programme.

SUNDAY November 1
Morning Different choirs will sing during Sunday Mass in churches of various
localities in Malta.
17.00 – 19.00 hrs Final Night – Grand Prix of Malta Competition, Prize-
giving and closing ceremony.
Venue: Catholic Institute, Floriana.
The winning choirs from each category will compete for coveted trophy and
Cash Prize of the Gran Prix of Malta in the Sacred, Secular and Children &
Youths sections.
