Date and time: Wednesday 6 April 2016, 8:00PM
Venue: Studio B (St James Cavalier)
For the past nine editions, the ISO (International Spring Orchestra) Festival has been housed exclusively at the Teatru Manoel. However, this time round, the festival, which will run between Friday 1st April and Saturday 9th April 2016, has earmarked several other palaces and theatres which shall open their doors to the fourteen concerts scheduled for this year’s festival. This includes venues such as Verdala Palace (Buskett, Rabat), The President’s Palace (Valletta), Palazzo Pereira (Valletta), Pjazza Teatru Rjal (Valletta), the Mediterranean Conference Centre (Valletta), Manoel Theatre (Valletta) and St James Cavalier (Valletta), where each one will welcome leading local artists and international musicians from all over – South Korea, France, The Netherlands, Belgium and the United Kindgdom.
The ISO Festival may indeed have a defined time-frame, however, the several master-classes which will be offered during the festival are like-wise vital instruments to ensure continuity and encourage development in the local music scene. What more, all concerts are entirely free of charge for children beneath the age of 15.
Among these concerts is Return to Titan, in which a remix of Mahler’s Symphony No. 1, once labelled ‘Titan’, will be presented and performed.
