A night of history and magic under the stars!
We have spotted the return of one of Malta's most atmospheric events: Museums by Candlelight. On Saturday, 18th April, the historic city of Birgu will be transformed by more than 15,000 candles, creating a spectacular setting where heritage and history truly come alive.
From 7:00 PM until midnight, visitors can explore several iconic sites in a unique light, accompanied by live music and historical re-enactments.
What to explore during this special evening:
Fort St Angelo: Walk through centuries of history on the bastions while enjoying performances by Bernie & Pod and Kathy the Violinist.
The Inquisitor's Palace: Discover the evocative rooms of the Holy Office accompanied by the elegant sounds of harpist Jacob Portelli.
Religious Heritage: Special access to St Lawrence Church and Museum, as well as St Dominic Church and Convent.
Contemporary Art: The Malta Biennale 2026 pavilions at the Birgu Old Armoury and the Malta Maritime Museum will also be open.
In Guardia Parade: A historical march starting at 7:00 PM from Birgu's main entrance, with stations at key locations throughout the night.
Local Flavours: Artisan stalls and food and beverage stands will be available for visitors.
