Kamaja Outdoors are  planning the third Basic Abseiling Course for students between the ages of 11 and 15 years. Following the successful completion of the course, the candidates will be awarded the SLC certification of informal learning and extra curricular activities which will be attached to their School Leaving Certificate.

 Two sessions are planned and the content is listed below:

 Monday 22nd December 2014 (9am – 3pm) – Introduction, Fitting of Equipment, Abseiling Ropes, Dry Run on the Ground, Top Anchor Abseils, Knots (thumb knot loop, figure of eight loop, bow line), Anchors, Belays, Abseiling (walking, running and looping). 

 Tuesday 23rd December (9am – 3pm) – Anchor knots, Connectors, Descender, Going Solo, Locking Systems, Military Abseils (upside down), Australian Method (face down) & Assessment.

 Friday 26th December – Reserved in case of inclement weather and/or need arises to postpone a session. 

 The course costs Euro 95.00 per candidate. The maximum number of candidates is 20 and it is on a first-come-first-serve basis. The venue is Fort Madalena and it will be held under the auspices of the St John Rescue Corps.
