Changing of the Guard

Watch the Changing Of the Guard and the AFM Military Band play.

The Changing of the Guard is an event which is held once a month in Valletta.

This formal ceremony lets us witness the formal handing over of responsibility of the old guard to the new one in front of the Presidential Palace in St. Georges Square. 

The new guard and the AFM Military Band hold this event together and leave the Valletta City Gate at 10:00 and walk together to St. George’s Square for the handing over.

After the ceremony, the AFM Military Band will perform a display lasting about 45 minutes before heading back to City Gate together with the old guard.

The Changing of the Guard is a lovely event for the whole family and also a great opportunity to visit Valletta.
