Introduction to Liying Zhu
 
Zhu Liying was born in Kunming City of Yunnan Province, China, in 1990. At the age of 11, Liying began to learn classical guitar under the instruction of Professor Chen Zhi, the foremost guitar professor in China at the time. Over the years Liying grew increasingly enamored of with this magical instrument. Determined to pursue her dream, in 2003, Liying enrolled in the high school affiliated with the Beijing Central Conservatory of Music.
 
Liying began learning classical guitar in 2001 under Mr. Chenzhi of the Central Conservatory of Music of China and in 2003, she enrolled at the high school affiliated with the Central Conservatory of Music of China.
 
Before embarking on her Bachelor studies, Liying had already started to reveal her exceptional talent and won several prestigious awards, including the third prize in “the Christopher Parkening International Youth Guitar Competition of America”, the second prize in “the 10th Vienna International Youth Guitar Competition” and the second prize in “the Youth Division of GFA International Guitar Competition” in USA.
 
During the course of her musical development, Liying attended master classes with Roland Dyens, Thomas Kirchoff, Dale Kavanagh, and Jorgos Panetsos. Moreover, She completed her postgraduate studies with a Master of Music Degree in Germany in Hochschule für Musik und Tanz K ln/Wuppertal in 2013, under Professor Alfred Eickholt
 
In 2014, Liying won together with singer Manon Blanc-Delsalle (France) the second prize in 13. Wuppertaler Musikwettbewerb “Gitarre plus X” (in March, for the whole student in the state NRW in Germany). Then she won two first prizes for solo, “International Twents Gitaar Concours” in Netherlands (in June) and “Internationaler Gitarrenwettbewerb Nürtingen” in Germany (in August).
 
In 2015, she won the first prize in both “15. Internationalen Gitarrenwettbewerb Gevelsberg” (in March) and “Koblenz International Guitar Competition ‘Hubert K ppel’” (in May) in Germany, the prize includes: a performance at Carnegie Hall New York and San Francisco in November 2015 supported by D’Addario and the Omni Foundation for the Performing Arts.
