Heritage Malta presents the Port Cruise – World War II, in honor of World Ocean Day, Thursday, June 8, 2023. Join them for a historic journey through the ports flanking the victorious city of Valletta, the main target of Axis air raids during the Second World War. Led by their Senior Curator of Fortifications, Matthew Balzan, and Head of the Underwater Cultural Heritage Unit, Professor Timmy Gambin, this cruise will trace the dramatic history of the second great siege of Malta, which transformed the region between 1940 and 1943. Imagine bombs raining down on the fortifications and military installations of our beleaguered capital, and learn more about the underwater heritage lining the seabed.
