Malta Baby & Kids Directory's Ten Year Anniversary competition, sponsored by EasyPeasyCoding.

To celebrate a decade of Malta's favourite parenting handbook, Malta Baby & Kids Directory have teamed up with EasyPeasyCoding to bring our young techies a competition to blow them away!

 

Competition Rules:

Submissions are allowed in the following formats: 

– Paintings & Drawings

– Collages

– Physical models (made from paper, wood, blocks)

– Screenshots from Minecraft (only 1 screenshot per submission accepted)

– Minecraft world exports

– Structure exports from MCedit or similar programs 

 

1) Note that NO ASSISTANCE will be provided to export Minecraft structures or worlds.  If competitors are not already familiar with how to do this, then they are encouraged to select a different medium for submission.   

2) All submissions need to have Malta, Maltese landmarks or Maltese history as a theme. These should be represented and imagined as they would appear in Minecraft. Minecraft uses cube shaped blocks to make up everything in the world, and this gives a unique visual appearance that we would like competitors to emulate. In the case of collages or models, we encourage competitors to create as many blocks as they need and actually use these. Competitors can use freely available templates from http://paperminecraft.com or http://www.pixelpapercraft.com/ to get started making blocks.

Virtual submissions can be in any recent version of Minecraft, Pocket Minecraft or Minecraft Pi Edition, but it is entirely the responsibility of the competitor to send in the correct files or exports in order to qualify in the competition.

Submissions will NOT be returned to competitors. Digital submissions are to be sent to minecraftcompetition@easypeasycoding.com, while physical submissions can be mailed or brought in to Malta Baby & Kids Directory Ten Year Anniversary competition, 34/35, Bishop's Palace street, Vittoriosa, BRG 1153. All submissions must be clearly marked with the name, age and cell phone number of the participant. 

 

3) The competition is open to kids aged 5 – 12, with different prizes available for different age groups. Judges will use their discretion to determine if an entry could reasonably have been created by children in the target age group, and can contact competitors for further clarification if we deem that a particular submission might have been created by older children or adults. 

All decisions by the adjudication panel are final and without appeal.

 

4) Several prizes are up for grabs, ranging from Raspberry Pi computers to Ozobots, free Minecraft accounts and course vouchers for EasyPeasyCoding workshops. We will also be producing 3D printed reproductions of submissions we feel are particularly attractive and lend themselves to 3D modelling and printing.
