Simone Stilon, a practising artist and teacher, has been running KidzArt for the past four years. KidzArt is an American Fine Art programme for children, through which children learn different aspects of fine art concepts and practices such as form, colour and perspective. The KidzArt method of instruction directs the students so that drawing skills are acquired naturally while giving them the freedom to create.
In this project, a number of school-children, aged between 3 and 10 years, followed the KidzArt method with the intention of producing a picture on a particular theme related to Malta. The students explored various features of our island such as landscape, food, plants, marine life and architecture.
The children were given the opportunity to express themselves creatively on one or more of these topics using a variety of mediums and of course, their wild and wandering imagination. Furthermore, research, brainstorming and sketching preceded this activity, giving them enough time and inspiration to create their work.
Official opening by invitation, on Saturday at 10am.
Open to the Public from Saturday 1.00pm onwards.
