Mellieħa Nights 2014

 

The seventh edition of the Mellieħa Nights, organised by the Mellieħa Local Council, will be taking place during the month of August, from Thursday 7th August till Sunday 10th August 2014. This activity is now popular with the locals and tourists alike, and has found its place in the Maltese annual cultural calendar. This event will serve to showcase the best elements of the Mellieħa community.

 

On Thursday 7th August the Mellieħa Local Council will be inaugurating a restoration project currently being undertaken in one of the most traditional places in Mellieħa. The restoration of the picturesque Mellieħa Natural Spring will be breathing new life in this place which is very rich in culture and history.

 

On Friday 8th August a spectacular concert featuring Malta’s top talent will be organised in the Mellieħa Parish Square. For another year the Mellieħa Local Council will be organising a high-quality concert which is sure to be another resounding success.

 

On Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th August the main roads and squares in Mellieħa will be pedestrianised and will be easily accessible for persons to stroll through. During these two nights a varied programme of event will be taking place in Mellieħa, varying from arts. Music, culture, sports and food. Other attractions include top local artists and musicians, as well as kids’ animations, all of which will be spread on three stages which will be set up along the Mellieħa streets.

 

A record number of local and international artists will be exhibiting their works and painting in front of the crowds. For those who are interested in cars, there will be a section where one can see static car displays and an off-roading show.

 

The Sanctuary of Our Lady of Mellieħa, which counts more than two thousand years, will be open to the public and will be hosting choral concerts in such a sacred environment. The World War II Shelters will be open, where guided tours will be offered to those who are interested. The Mellieħa restaurants will also be offering a unique gastronomic experience by preparing carious menus especially for this occasion. The main roads will be set up with tables and chairs al fresco for their patrons to enjoy these lovely nights without missing on the entertainment which will be offered.

 

Everyone is invited to attend for this annual event in Mellieħa during these four nights. These are four nights which will be transformed into one big celebration for all the family, where Mellieħa will showcase its best elements for one and all.
