Following the success of the last two years, Malta now boosts of a New Year’s Eve national celebration just like every major capital city. This Year the event is being held in conjunction between the Valletta and Floriana Local Councils. New Year’s Eve is a period where people gather to welcome the New Year with lavish celebrations on a national level.
This year aims to bring the magic and festive atmosphere throughout most of Valletta and Floriana by extending the event to other streets and squares in order to be able to provide entertainment. While recently, numerous entertainment nights have been organised, we believe that nothing compares to the national celebrations on New Year’s Eve especially since there is something magical about that night were everyone is in a joyous and festive mood. Our idea is to bring this magic and festive atmosphere through a series of high quality entertainment activities at various strategic spots around the capital.
Once again the Valletta events are being organised by the Valletta Local Council in collaboration with G7 Events. St. Georges Square will host the main stage and will see the very best of Malta’s top local talent. The night in the square will kick start with William Mangion performing some Piano bar classics, followed by Kurt Calleja’s New Year Eve Edition of Cabaret & More featuring Warren Bonello and Brooke. Pierre Cordina will take over and play some of the best hits of 2012 before the very impressive 3D countdown Show. Then it’s up to Gianni and Filletti to welcome the New Year with their lively and powerful performance.
A kid’s area will also be set up in the new De la Valette Square. Also in the New Open Air Theatre Zoo teams up with Centre stage to produce an end of year spectacular show. The 4 comedians will take you through a sensational end of year journey. The show will also feature some spectacular Musical Numbers by Centrestage.
G7 are preparing a massive audio visual countdown which will also include stage pyrotechnics and fireworks. Furthermore for the first time ever the countdown will include an Architectural Projection Mapping NYE 3D Countdown Show an innovative technique that has risen in popularity in recent years across the world. The technique involves the use of high powered projectors to project audio visual animations on buildings in St. Georges Square that create the illusion of distorting space and 3D effects. The countdown will also kick start the celebrations leading to V18 Valletta European Capital of Culture.
