Enemalta plc is inviting you to an open weekend at the Marsa Power Station to discover the history and technology of the electricity generation plants in operation for the last 61 years.
On the 14th and 15th of March 2015, Enemalta workers are welcoming visitors to guided tours of the 1953 Marsa Power Station, which is expected to be fully decommissioned soon. Guests will be able to learn about this power station’s development, walk through the different areas and watch related audiovisual productions. Vintage photos from Enemalta’s archives will also be exhibited. Weather permitting, the power station also provides a unique vantage point to enjoy views of the Grand Harbour.
Opening times on Saturday 14th March are between 9:00am and 2:00pm. On Sunday, 15th March the Marsa Power Station will be open to the public between 9:00am and 16:30pm. Guided walks start every half hour.
Visitors are encouraged to wear suitable clothing and footwear for this industrial environment.
Photography Competition:
While touring the power station, visitors can also participate in the Marsa Power Station Photography Competition. The best photos of this power station submitted will be awarded with a total of €500 worth of photographic equipment vouchers. Enemalta and The Malta Institue of Professional Photographers are seeking at outstanding images that preferably depict the Marsa Power Station in a creative, unusual manner, whilst also preserving its characteristics for posterity.
