St James Cavalier will be filled with fun activities for kids and young teens. The music room will have two puppet shows.

Sean Briffa’s Dr Johnny’s Time Machine is a puppet show he created exclusively for Science in the City. It’s a story about the evolution of life on earth. Will Dr Johnny find his Time Machine in time to save his friend from de–evolution? Come find out for yourselves!

Zargo Comes to Earth tells the tale of the alien Zargo who has landed on a strange planet called Earth. It’s very different from his home planet. So come join Zargo as he learns the difference between the void of space and our planet. This journey will take Zargo through experiment after experiment — some need audience participation — to discover this new world. The science play is by S-Cubed – Science Students’ Society. The performance gives an opportunity for primary school children to participate in interactive sessions aimed at instilling a basic know-how of what science is all about in a fun way.

In the same area a Treasure Hunt will run throughout the night. Search for a Scientist kicks off at St. James Cavalier, where the participants will be given a paper (to be filled in as described below) and prompted with the instructions for taking part in the event. The main scope of the hunt is to encourage participants to search for well-known and easily recognizable scientists strategically placed around the streets of Valletta. Once found, the people will need to give the scientist a key-word, and in return the famous scientist will ask them to solve a small puzzle or answer a question in order to receive a clue to write on the paper, initially given to them at the start of the hunt.

Once all the clues are collected from all the scientists, the participants will be left with a code on their paper. They will then be required to return to the starting point at St. James, and exchange this code to be given their small rewards.
