A theatrical journey of tales

“Qatt ma Ninsa– Birgu” (I will never forget – Vittoriosa) is an imaginary journey into the soul of a city, Birgu.

Ten young actors that form part of The Teatru Manoel Youth Theatre (TMYT) have spent the last two months discovering the soul of this very special city, and together they have created an unusual promenade performance that will take visitors all over this city.

Inspired by the recent exhibition held at the Maritime Museum “Qatt Ma Ninsa – Birgu” asks the audience to explore Birgu, whilst the TMYT actors weave everyday stories with historical fact, in an imaginary narrative of four individuals, as they fall in and out of love, meet their friends, their families, their ancestors and hear stories from their past as well as sharing their hope and their fears.

This theatrical journey is not static and set in one place, but the audience will walk, following their character, moving from one historical place to another within Birgu.

“Qatt Ma Ninsa – Birgu” is the first project of its series that seeks to use theatrical means to understand, explore and appreciate the unique character of this magical city. The ultimate aim is to encourage spectators to find out more about this city's identity and ultimately the Maltese identity, our identity.

“Qatt Ma Ninsa – Birgu” is an event organised by Valletta 2018 Foundation, in collaboration with TMYT and Heritage Malta, as well as the Birgu Local Council, and the people of Birgu.

The event will be held on Friday 12th, Saturday 13th, and Sunday 14th September starting at 7.30pm.
