Location: Casino Maltese

The Librarians will set up camp at the Casino Maltese bringing a series of sci fi and astronomy talks, with an astronomy exhibition and the latest EU projects of the University’s library.

Dr David Zammit (University of Malta) will be starting things off with Star Trek Technology in our Present Time at 8.30pm. Star Trek has inspired scientists and technologists to create products we now use regularly and has helped push the boundaries of research.

The following talk by amateur astronomer David Pace will be The Exploration of Mars at 9.30pm. Pace will go through how our Red Planet has been explored over decades inspiring countless humans back on our Blue Planet. Could there be life on the Red Planet?

An astronomy exhibition will be organised together with S-Cubed and the Space Detectives a group of astrophysicists at the University of Malta. Beautiful photos from the European Space Agency will be exhibited.

The Library will be showcasing its Open Access Repository (OAR), a platform that will make EU funded and local research available to everyone. The OAR is an open access platform. The Librarians will be in the building to talk about open access research and the numerous EU platforms the UoM Library is involved in.
