Invitation to ‘The Medieval Jousting Tournament in Malta’
Festival at Fort Rinella 30th March – 1st April 2012
Fondazzjoni Wirt Artna is organising a jousting tournament at Fort Rinella in Kalkara as a fund raising weekend for the renovation of the fort, between the 30th of March till the 1st of April. This will be the first tournament of its type in Malta in the last 400 years. The whole event is meant to raise awareness of this sport in an entertaining manner for everyone with live animation and displays. As you may already know, our organisation specializes also in re-enactments, so everything will be themed accordingly, with food, drinks and open areas that make it an ideal event for all the family.
The show will consist of a Jousting tournament with all its phases – from the well known cavalry clashes to on-ground sword fighting and knights displays, where visitors may also try on original armour. Experts of this type of re-enactment are coming from abroad for this occasion, yet our goal is to raise interest within the local public in order to make this a yearly event, where locals may find a new passion for this sport.
