This year’s BOV volleyball marathon, in aid of Dar tal-Providenza, will be held between Friday 4th July and Sunday 6th July.  This year’s edition was officially launched by Fr Martin Micallef, director of the respite home, and the Prime Minister’s wife Michelle Muscat – chairperson of ‘ Marigold Foundation – BOV in the community.’

The marathon will be inaugurated  by President Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca on Friday 4th at 5:30pm, and will come to an end at noon the following Sunday.

The aim of the marathon, resulting in 53 hours of continuous play, will collect funds for the church-run home which offers respite services for persons with disabilities.

Fr Micallef said that each year, a large group of people volunteer their time for a good cause, assisting the team at Dar tal-Providenza to provide a better quality of life to the residents. A group of 300 volunteers will participate in this year’s marathon – these include players, helpers and organisers.

Mrs Muscat said that the Marigold Foundation is dedicated to assist organisations to reach their full potential, enabling them to make a positive impact on society.

As is tradition, the marathon will be broadcasted on national television stations, and the public can make a donation by phone, SMS or through BOV’s mobile pay.
