Walk for Nature encourages children and families to enjoy spending time outdoors in the beautiful Maltese spring and raise awareness for the importance of nature conservation. This year, the walk will start at Roman Villa in Rabat and finish at Xemxija near Simar Nature Reserve.

 

Their theme this year is ‘wildlife homes’ and the organisers will be looking for all the different habitats which the participants can see along the way! Their wildlife experts will also be on hand to explain what lives where!

 

At the end of the walk, children will be rewarded with gift bags containing merchandise such as pin badges and posters from BirdLife Malta. There will be a prize-giving ceremony in which the highest donations will win awards for their amazing sponsorship effort! The first prize will be The Natural History of the Maltese Islands book with stunning pictures and details donated to them by Book Distributors Limited (BDL), second prize a pair of binoculars and Għasafar Madwarna, and third prize Wild Flowers of the Maltese Islands and Għasafar Madwarna.

 

                                

 

Participation is free for those who raise funds. A fee of €5 is required for those who don’t raise funds (to be paid on site).

The event is open to BirdLife Malta Members only and Dinja Waħda participating schools.

 

Meeting at 8:30 sharp near the Roman Villa in Rabat

 

Difficulty: Easy/moderate (approximately 10km)

 

Transport back to the starting point will be available for €1 per person
