A fascinating heritage event is taking place in Gozo this August. The Munxar Local Council, in collaboration with Heritage Malta's Underwater Cultural Heritage Unit, is opening the historic Xlendi Tower to the public for a special open weekend on Gozo's scenic south-west coast.
Visitors will have the opportunity to explore the tower's rich cultural history, admire panoramic views over Xlendi Bay, and discover an extraordinary underwater world through an immersive Virtual Reality experience.
The VR experience offers a virtual dive into the Xlendi Underwater Archaeological Park and the famous Phoenician Shipwreck, dating back to the 7th century BC. Inside the tower, a display of underwater artefacts will provide insight into centuries of maritime history hidden beneath Gozo's clear waters.
